1. Sohail Castle, an essential
The castle is a “must” that cannot be missed on your visit to Fuengirola, both to review the most important episodes of its history and to enjoy the best views of the coastline. This castle was built around the year 956 and under the mandate of Caliph Abderramán III on the remains of an ancient Roman settlement on top of a small hill near the mouth of the Fuengirola River.
From this fortress you will be able to enjoy the best panoramic views of Fuengirola, where you will see the entire coastline, the Puente de la Armada and the town.
2. Visit the Roman Archaeological Site “Finca del Secretario”
In Fuengirola you can find two important archaeological sites: the Finca del Secretaria and the Roman baths of Torreblanca del Sol. The first is an important Roman villa from the 1st century that contains baths, ovens and a factory from that time. The famous Venus of Fuengirola was found here, as well as some agricultural tools that you can see in the interpretation centre that is inside the enclosure. This space rich in history was discovered in the late 1970s.

3. Tour the old town and visit the Plaza de la Constitución
In the centre of the old town of Fuengirola is its most emblematic square, La Plaza de La Constitución, where its iconic fountain and the baroque church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario are located. The latter is the oldest church in Fuengirola. In addition, in the centre of the square is the Monument to the Three Generations, honouring, as its name says, three generations: grandparents, parents and children.
The Plaza de la Constitución hosts several activities throughout the year, such as the Christmas market that stands out for its charm. Around the Plaza de Constitución and Marbella street you will find one of the best bar areas where you can enjoy tapas and try the typical local food.
Also in the historic centre you can visit another square that has a lot of charm, the Plaza de los Reyes Católicos, located in the heart of Fuengirola and where you can see a sculpture of more than 800 kilos and three meters high of the monarchs with their gaze in the direction to the Castle of Sohail where they arrived.
4. Sunbathe on its beaches
The extensive coastline of Fuengirola has numerous golden sand beaches, perfect for lying down and enjoying the sun on summer days and taking a bath in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

5. Walk around the Paseo Marítimo
